Services Selection Board

The SSB selection process typically spans over multiple days and is conducted at various SSB centers across the country. It includes the following stages:

1. Stage 1 - Screening: This stage involves Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT). Candidates who qualify in this stage proceed to the subsequent stages.

2. Stage 2 - Psychological Tests: This stage consists of various psychological tests, such as the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self-Description Test (SD). These tests aim to assess candidates' psychological attributes, including their problem-solving skills, social adaptability, and decision-making abilities.

3. Stage 3 - Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks: This stage includes a series of group tasks, such as Group Discussion (GD), Group Planning Exercise (GPE), Progressive Group Task (PGT), Half Group Task (HGT), Individual Obstacles (IO), and Lecturette. These tasks evaluate candidates' teamwork, leadership, communication skills, and ability to perform under pressure.

4. Stage 4 - Personal Interview: This is the final stage of the SSB selection process, where candidates face a personal interview with the Interviewing Officer (IO). The interview assesses their knowledge, communication skills, motivation, and overall suitability for a career in the armed forces.

Throughout the SSB selection process, candidates are evaluated by a team of experienced assessors who assess their performance and provide recommendations based on their potential as future officers.
